Maybe it's just the playstyle but I can't hang on Veteran anymore and even on I HIGHLY recommend getting a helm with 2 sockets and throwing tir runes in there as well as periodically shopping for wands that have faster cast rate but more importantly +mana/energy. This will help the most till you’re 40-50 and have some gear that boosts your mana. Diablo 2 is a masterpiece. I say that because I was so hyped for Diablo 3, and felt let down with its release like many of you feel about D4. Compared to release, D4 is the winner for me I felt the nerfs on the fire sorc build, but I switched to the Chain Lightning build and I'm absolutely fucking shit up harder than I ever did on beta.
