♠️ Ktm 790 Duke Reliability Issues
Just bought a 2018 690 Duke and am still breaking it in. Barely hit 50 miles when it started lurching forward and/or stalling when going from neutral to first at a standstill. Clearly the clutch is not working properly. Adjusted the lever travel, very little free play. Checked the clutch fluid, there is plenty.

The 890 engine (20% up from the 790) is different and less refined from the triple, although it feels “equivalent in power” overall.. delivery is different, and I might even opt for the triple which had a very linear delivery. The 890R feels more confident to push faster on twisty roads than the 765R did.

The Honda threw a wrench in my 790 plans with it's silky smooth lines, retro styling, and Honda reliability. Honda CB650R - The sedate Japanese Businessman with a drinking problem. Starting with the looks, the CB650R was a great bike. Good level of tech, nice 4-cylinder engine, plenty of power, that oh-so-gorgeous front fork and headlight.

KTM’s 790 range is certainly revived for 2023, and largely thanks to CFMoto, it seems.The Chinese manufacturer will build the 2023 KTM 790 Duke that was announced a few days ago, and it has now been announced that they will build the 2023 KTM 790 Adventure, too.
but if you fear for reliability (as the 2017 is the first rev of the new gen) go for the 2018 or 2019 - as they mostly have the problems prev. ones might have had sortet out (like on the 790: headgasket, routing of the tank overflowt tube)
The lead tech said that the exhaust cam sprocket had jumped 5 teeth due to the cam chain tensioner failure . They re-timed the cam sprockets and did visually investigate the cam lobes . No damage or wear was found. New KTM hydraulic tensioner is installed and they will test ride the bike this week pending the weather.
